Entertainment for the Kids
- Koziar’s Christmas Village
Berks County has a must-see seasonal attraction that’s great fun for families. Koziar’s Christmas Village in Bernville has been lighting up the countryside for nearly 70 years. Kids love the massive display of lights and decorations on the farmhouse, dairy barns, chicken coops, etc. The 10-acre grounds also feature a re-creation of the Valley Forge encampment and an outdoor train layout that covers most of the barnyard.
- Crystal Cave Park
Crystal Cave Park near Kutztown was discovered in 1871 and is considered “Pennsylvania’s Greatest Natural Wonder.” Visitors descend 125 feet below ground where they can learn about the amazing stalagmites, stalactites and pillar formations. There are also a miniature golf course, museum, theater and nature trail on the grounds.
- Reading Public Museum and Neag Planetarium
There is fun to be had for all ages at the Reading Public Museum in West Reading. Exhibits include everything from fine art, sculptures, armor, and artifacts of world civilizations, to natural history and the cultures of Native Americans and Pennsylvania Germans. There’s even a real Ancient Egyptian mummy. Then enjoy a full-dome sky show and other space-related activities at the museum’s state-of-the-art Neag Planetarium.
- Cabela’s
In Hamburg, you’ll find Pennsylvania’s first Cabela’s, which has a 250,000-square-foot retail showroom, a bait shop, an ATV shop, and a shooting gallery. There are also plenty of fun, educational wildlife displays and outfitters on hand to answer questions. Have a wild boar or smoked elk sandwich in the deli and make a full day of shopping!
- The Works
The Works is a three-acre indoor entertainment complex in Wyomissing that includes two restaurants, a high-speed go kart track called “Slick Willy’s”, a multi-million-dollar arcade with 150+ games, a huge indoor “Ballocity” play structure for kids, and the Xtreme Air Trampoline Park. It’s fun for all ages.
- Reading Fightin’ Phils Baseball
Who doesn’t love baseball?! The Reading Fightin’ Phils, a Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies and one of the longest-running affiliations in Minor League Baseball, entertain crowds at Reading’s FirstEnergy Stadium, the oldest baseball stadium in the Eastern League, from April to September.
