Discover Robesonia, PA
In 1794, the Reading Furnace was established along Spring Creek, which is now called Furnace Creek, by George Ege. After Ege’s death in 1829, the property, which included about 6,000 acres of land, a mansion, a gristmill, a saw mill, and numerous other buildings, was eventually sold to Henry P. Robeson in 1845.
Robeson replaced the charcoal furnace with an anthracite furnace and built a new stack which yielded 240 tons of iron a week. Robeson founded the town of Robesonia in 1855, and it was incorporated in 1913.
Robesonia remained famous for its iron furnaces until 1927, when they were acquired and dismantled by Bethlehem Steel. Today, the Robesonia Furnace Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town is also famous for its Pennsylvania German pottery known as “redware.”
The town features a beautiful wide tree-lined main street that has helped it achieve the Tree City USA award for the past 15 years and has a population of about 2,000 people who enjoy its location in a broad valley formed by the Creek, surrounded by gently sloping hills.
Robesonia is served by the Conrad Weiser Area School District, which operates Conrad Weiser West Elementary School (K-4th), Conrad Weiser East Elementary School (K-4th), Conrad Weiser Middle School (5th–8th), and Conrad Weiser High School (9th–12th).

Things to Do Before You Start House-Hunting

Know your price range.
It’s important to know what you can financially afford. We recommend completing mortgage pre-approval before you get started. The last thing we want if for buyers to fall in love with a home they can’t afford and become discouraged.
Place your current home on the market.
If you have a home to sell, it’s important to place it on the market before you start setting up appointments to visit homes. It is not uncommon for buyers to find the perfect home before they are actively ready to purchase and be disappointed when it sells to someone else. Wait until you are about ready to buy before looking at too many properties.
