About Exeter Township
Located four miles southeast of Reading, the 5th largest city in the state and the county seat of Berks County, Exeter Township is drained by the Schuylkill River, which forms its natural southern boundary. But a ridge of low mountains, called South Mountain, cover the northwest part of the township and provide a beautiful backdrop.
Exeter Township was originally part of Oley Township, but was separated in 1741. Its name is credited to the George Boone family, one of the most influential families in town. The historic Daniel Boone Homestead, the birthplace of the American frontiersman, is in Exeter Township, as is the homestead of Abraham Lincoln’s great-great grandfather, Mordecai.
The thriving suburb is served by the Exeter Township School District, which comprises Exeter Township and St. Lawrence Borough. The district operates three elementary schools, an intermediate school, a junior high school and a senior high school. They enjoy a graduation rate of 98%, and about 75% of their students go on to higher education.
Commuters can be in Pottstown in 20 minutes via US-422, in Morgantown in 20 minutes via I-176, in King of Prussia or Philadelphia in less than one hour via US-422, and in Allentown in one hour via PA-562 (St. Lawrence Avenue/Boyertown Pike).
Do You Need a Real Estate Agent?
Attempting to buy a home without a real estate agent can make the home buying process more difficult. It may also keep you from seeing all homes on the market.
Most homes are widely accessible to buyers on websites, but some sellers want privacy and don’t want the sale advertised. In those cases, only your real estate agent will know the homes are for sale.
There are also some home features that aren’t readily apparent online. If you’re looking for a home with space for an office or an attached mother-in-law unit, your agent will be familiar with the homes that may meet your needs. If you plan to add a bedroom or build a fence in the backyard, he or she will also know if local zoning ordinances will allow it.
Your real estate agent can also save the day when it comes to the mountain of paperwork involved in buying a home. The odds of making mistakes on the written offer, the written and signed counteroffer, and other important details drop substantially when you’re working with agents like The Matt Wolf Team who know the paperwork inside and out.
