Why Choose Collegeville, PA?
The village of Collegeville, a suburb of Philadelphia located along the Perkiomen Creek, was originally called Perkiomen Bridge. Its name was later changed to Freeland. In 1869, when the German Reformed Church founded Ursinus College here, the village changed its name to Collegeville. It was incorporated in 1896.
The quintessential college town is located in the Perkiomen Valley, midway between Valley Forge, PA, and Pottstown, PA, about 27 miles northwest of Center City Philadelphia. The Providence Town Center provides one-stop shopping for everything from groceries to date night, with stores like Best Buy, DSW and Wegmans as anchors, as well as a movie theater and restaurants.
Families who enjoy outdoor recreation will love Collegeville Community Park, which offers fun for kids of all ages with a playground, a full-size paved basketball court, a roller hockey court, and a baseball field.
Hunsberger Woods has two ponds, a stream running through it, and is ringed with trails. It’s ideal for nature walking or running. And, Collegeville also provides access to the 20-mile Perkiomen Trail, known as “Perky,” which is popular for walking, jogging, bicycling, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding.
