Explore Wernersville

The borough of Wernersville, in Berks County, PA, is approximately 8 miles west of Reading and 55 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

Homeowners here enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of country living in a town that was once a renowned resort community, along with great shopping and a variety of cultural events conveniently located nearby. They also appreciate the superior schools of the Wilson School District.

City folk came to Wernersville in the late 1800s and early 1900s to relax in one of the large hotels, enjoy the surrounding woodlands, beautiful views, and healing waters, and recover from their rheumatism, nervous exhaustion, tuberculosis, and other ailments in the cool mountain air of South Mountain. They could savor the sunshine and enjoy salt rubs, massages and sulfur baths.

Although most of the resort hotels have now disappeared, they helped to make Wernersville a successful town. There are still some cottages once associated with the resorts that are now private homes.

Wernersville is served by the Wilson School District, located in West Lawn, PA, which operates eight elementary schools, two junior high schools, and one senior high school. It’s among the top-ranked school districts in Pennsylvania.

Even if you don’t have children, buying in a such strong school district can help protect your home’s value during the ups and downs of the real estate market.
