About Blandon & Maidencreek Township, PA

Maidencreek Township in Berks County, PA, was incorporated in 1746 and named after a branch of the Schuylkill River, called Maiden Creek, that extends diagonally through the region. The Township consists of the Village of Blandon, its largest town, as well as Evansville, Maidencreek and Molltown.

The area was first settled in 1732 by Quakers, who lived among the Lenni Lenape Indians, and later by Germans, Scots, Welsh and Irish settlers. A growth spurt occurred when the East Penn Railroad passed through Blandon in 1859, and a roller mill, grist mill, cider mill, distillery and motel emerged by the early 1900s.

Today, Maidencreek Township homeowners continue to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of country living in the midst of wooded hills and beautiful valleys, as well as easy access to Reading, Lancaster, Allentown, Harrisburg, King of Prussia and Philadelphia.

The Township is served by the Fleetwood Area School District which operates three elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. The district offers a wide variety of academic courses, music, the arts, sports programs and extracurricular activities.
